Story Synopsis: I was never supposed to be a rock star. I had my life all planned out for me. Play football in college. Go to the NFL. Marry my high school sweetheart and live happily ever after.

I broke both our hearts that day when I told her I was leaving. I was young. I made the right decision for me, but the wrong decision for us. I’ve poured my soul into my music, but I’ve never forgotten her. Her smell, her smile.

And now I’m going back. After ten years. I hope I can explain that after all this time. I still want her to be my forever girl.

I put Forever My Girl on my top shelf!

First Thoughts..

Hot, bad-ass rockstar.. Check. Awesome and emotional love story.. Check. Great cover complete with guitar.. Check. Football/NFL talk.. Check. Holla! I’M IN LOVE!

Pace, Plot and Writing Style..

The beginning of this book starts off with a massive amount of intense emotions that will seriously break your heart. There’s so much unfortunate tragedy that immediately catapults this story into a league of it’s very own. I was almost instantly pulled into this world and fell in love with both the main characters, and with a character that we never even had the privilege to meet. As rockstar, Liam Westbury’s character is introduced to us, in the midst of all the revolving sadness, I honestly wanted to slap him and almost didn’t want to read anymore about him because really, who can be that selfish? Who throws away the love of his life, a football career and his best friends all because he felt like his head was going to explode? Well, as the story unfolds, we learn the reasons Liam ran and the more I thought about it, the more I understood.. not that it wasn’t painful doing so, but I kinda got it. I also think that eliciting such a responsive reaction similar to my own and other readers, shows this authors strength and the power of her words and thought process. The pace was perfect and I felt it flowed very well, transitioning seamlessly between Liam and Josie’s points of view. As for the plot, yes, at times it was a bit predictable BUT damn was it written well. I was so enamored with all the different elements music, hot rockstars and football.. OH MY! of the story to even care about that, in fact, I found myself desperately wanting the story to follow the direction it did. It was so great.

When you love someone, you just know..

The Characters..

Liam: I didn’t want to love Liam. Early on in the story, I was horribly disappointed that he actually walked away from the girl he loved?! I mean, if you’re lucky enough to find a love like that, who’d be crazy enough to let it go like that, right?! I fought it and fought it, but as the story progressed and I began to somewhat understand the reasons he left and about the man he forced himself to become throughout the years afterwards because of it, I fell hard. He didn’t just storm onto the scene and take over, demanding for Josie to take him back either.. He was patient yet persistent and most importantly, very willing to prove that his feelings never died and that he was still very clearly in love with Josie. Liam’s character is so perfectly developed and pivotal to the storyline, and honestly.. who doesn’t obsess over love a motorcycle ridin’, tattooed, rockstar bad dude?! we all know I do!!

I only have eyes for one woman, period … When I saw you, I knew I had made a mistake. I should have never left or at least come back for you. My life is better with you in it, Josie. I’m not going to do anything to jeopardize that.”

Josie: As a teenager, Josie was completely blindsided by Liam and his decision that she was no longer welcome in his life. She was left behind by the guy she adored and looked forward to a future with, with no explanation and no other option but to move on without him. Oh man, Josie’s POV’s seriously broke my heart.. The pain and just having no closure was enough to bring me to tears on multiple occasions. But even through Josie’s palpable sadness, you could sense her strength as well and I loved that. She didn’t just fall back into Liam’s arms, even though I’m sure she wanted to.. because I know I sure wanted to and OH AMY! .. He’s a fictional character! I just loved loving these two as much as I did.

Supporting Cast: Throughout Forever My Girl, we’re introduced to some other pretty amazing and memorable characters too. Liam’s band-mates, Josie and Liam’s family and friends – some playing very integral and guaranteed tear inducing parts in the story, and one very special little boy that will stitch your broken heart back up again! I’m really, really looking forward to reading more about some of these characters hopefully later on in the series!

Final Thoughts..

This book was so well written and such a great start to this series! I can’t wait to check out more of Heidi’s writing!

HAPPY READING!
